SAN FRANCISCO, CA – July 12, 2010 – Howard Rice is working with Munger Tolles and Public Advocates Inc. on a pro bono basis to sue the state of California over inadequate school funding. The suit was filed today in Alameda Superior Court on behalf of organizations representing thousands of low-income students and parents from across the state, plus nearly two dozen individual students and parents.
The suit is asking the state to live up to its constitutional responsibility and “provide all California public school students with a new school finance system that sufficiently and equitably supports its public schools, so that every child has a reasonable opportunity to obtain a meaningful education that prepares them for civic, social, and economic success in the 21st century.”
The Howard Rice team includes Director Martin Glick and Associates D'Lonra Ellis, Sara Eisenberg and Michelle Ybarra. To read the press release issued by Public Advocates, click here.
